Fic: Need - R - Numb3rs: Don/Charlie - For eppescest

Title: Need
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie
Rating/Category: R for Mature Themes, but nothing explicit.
Warnings: Incest, obviously. Dubcon (due to Charlie's motives).
Spoilers: Episode 1x04 Structural Corruption
Length: 330 words
Summary: They agreed it was over a long time ago. But sometimes need takes over.
Note: The bit in the beginning about Occam’s Razor is taken from the Wikipedia entry on the subject, as I only understand it in simplest terms and was looking for something Charlie could babble about. Not beta'd.

“Of course, there are flaws to Occam’s razor, you know. In particular, 'simplicity' must first be defined in some way before the razor may be used, and that this definition will always be subjective. For example…” Charlie said, as he entered the house, Don and his father behind him.

Alan set his keys down on a table by the door, and proceeded to fake a yawn. “Well, I’m exhausted. I think I’ll head to bed now. Good night, Charlie, good night, Donny – be careful on your drive home; there’s going to be one hell of a storm tonight.”

As their father left the room, Charlie turned to Don.”What? Was it something I said?”

Don laughed, and smirked at Charlie, but didn’t say anything. The younger brother frowned.

“I was just explaining –“ He was interrupted by Don kissing him forcibly. When Don finally pulled away, Charlie was quite speechless.

Finally he said, in a small voice, “You haven’t done that in quite a while, Don. I-I thought…”
I thought we were over that.

Don ran his hand through his hair, turning away from Charlie.

“Sorry,” he muttered, and then added, as if reading Charlie’s mind, “I know we agreed – but…”
I can’t stop thinking about you.

Charlie cast a worried glance upward. “We can’t – .” No matter how much we want to.

Don stepped away from him, heading toward the door. This time, it was Charlie who made the move – putting the hand on his shoulder that made him turn around, and then kissing him when his guard was down. Don detached Detached, he’s always accusing me of being detached, but how can I do this and stay sane without detaching from the situation, relying on his instinct to carry him through, to satisfy the desires his conscience couldn’t deal with. The need he couldn’t understand. He dug his hands into Charlie’s hair, and advanced, guiding him toward the couch.

I need him, Don thought.

He needs me, Charlie thought.

Title: Untitled Crack!fic
Author: ktprincesswitch
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: PG for talking about sex
Prompt: Bandslash
Length: 150 words
Warnings: 4th wall breaking, crack!fic
Summary: Harry likes Pete.
Notes: I am starting to really like comment!fic.

"He doesn't know you exist, you know," Ron said nonchalantly, as he entered the Gryffindor boys' room. Harry was on his bed, reading a muggle magazine, featuring Fall Out Boy on the cover. Ron just knew he was swooning over Pete again.

"What? Yes he does! He talks about me all the time!"

"Yeah, but he thinks you're fictional. That sodding J.K. Rowling and all."

"But he still knows who I am---"

"And anyway, he's got a thing for Hermione. The git's straight, Harry."

Harry started laughing. "Have you seen him? He wears eyeliner And the singer? Patrick? They're sleeping together."

"And what, you think they'll invite you for a threesome?"

"I could see if they'd want to make it a foursome..."

Ron responded to that by pouncing him, pinning him to the bed with a fierce kiss. “Nah, I think I’d rather just keep you to myself, thanks.”

Fic: The Crowd Cheers On - Bandslash: FOB - Pete/Patrick

Title: The Crowd Cheers On
Fandom: Bandslash: Fall Out Boy
Characters: Pete/Patrick
Prompt: None, unless Bang the Doldrums being stuck in my head counts.
Word Count: 280
Rating: G
Warnings: slightly crack!fic
Summary:The boys get caught (sort of) and Pete makes it a Moment (or tries.)

"F-O-B, F-O-B!" the crowd chants. Backstage, Pete has Patrick cornered for a good luck kiss before the show. He manages to steal the kiss, but not before the both of them can hear Joe and Andy coming out of their dressing rooms.

"You're going to get us caught one of these days!" Patrick hisses at Pete.

Pete just grins and shrugs. "Maybe we should just tell them already."

"Tell who what?" Joe asks, he and Andy rounding the corner just in time to make the four of them feel very awkward. Pete and Patrick are still standing just a little too close.

Pete looks at Patrick, who has a pained look on his face. Pete is about to tell the other two men to just forget it – they have a show to do, they don’t need to get into this now, anyway – but then Patrick just sighs.

“Tell them.”

Pete raises an eyebrow as if to say “Really?” and gives Patrick a second to back out. When nothing comes, Pete looks over at Andy and Joe.

He only has one chance to make this a Moment. And what better way.

“Best friends, ex-friends ‘till the end …. Better off as lovers…”

“And not the other way around,” Patrick finishes, the sounds coming mostly out of habit.

“I don’t get it,” Andy says slowly, but the look of realization is already dawning on his face.

“Oh man, that song is about you guys? I’m never going to be able to play it now!” Joe exclaims, though he knows there’s no choice. They’ll have to talk about this later. Or maybe never. Never sounds good right now.

And outside, the crowd cheers on.

Vid: Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Willow/Tara - Far Away by Nickelback

Vid Title: Far Away
Song Title: Far Away
Artist: Nickelback
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Pairing: Willow/Tara
Description: When Tara shows up at the Summers' home in Entropy, Willow reflects on how things went wrong between them.
Warnings: Blue Shirt Warning. Also, girls going kissy-kissy, smoochy-smoochy.
Size: 19.86 MB
Can be downloaded Here, from FileFront.

I don't normally do notes on my vids, but this one is definitely a special case. There's so much I want to say about it, that babbling to my girlfriend wouldn't help. (Plus, she'd probably just tune me out.)

Inspiration: "The Birth of"

First of all, this vid idea has been nagging me since at least 09/09/06 - That'd be my anniversary, and my girfriend and I went to see Nickelback in Nashville. They played this song, and I started thinking of how it fit in fandom (because, as a vidder, that is what I do. If I can't find a fandom for it, I probably don't want to listen to it.) Willow and Tara seemed like the most obvious pairing, though I had a few other ideas. At the time though, none of that mattered, as I was taking a hiatus from vidding. My last vid was posted June 1st, and in August I let my website run out. (I was extremely broke and could not afford the $75 server fee. My hobby had really got out of control, it seemed.) I still had a vid idea on my computer (and still do, though I haven't touched it lately.) but, for all intents and purposes I was done with vidding.

Unfortunately, this vid idea (and many others, if I'm truthful with myself) was not done with me. Everytime the song was on the radio, my computer's playlist, anywhere, I was thinking about it. Still I couldn't make myself sit down and vid it. I had too many other things going on in my life. It wasn't until December that I finally gave and sat down to work on it. Even then, I was determined that the vid would "only be for me", and would never see the light of day.

Vids just for myself are nice, of course. But after the work I put into this... I finally decided to upload it and put it on display.

Technical Aspects: "The Making of"
As I watch the vid again, I can't help but think of all the rough cuts I had to fight with in the beginning sequence. Tara twitches too much, honestly.

There are still a few jumps in the footage, as well, most notable where Tara is talking to Anya at 2:03 and in the overlay at 2:30. I tried my best with both of those problems, but the footage I needed resulted in those errors no matter what I did to them.

I played with the clip speed in a few places as well, and am for the most part very pleased wit the results. I used two programs to make this vid: Windows Movie Maker and Adobe Premiere. The former I used to put down the clips in order and time them to the music, and Adobe I used for the overlay and to fix any minor errors in timing.

Sometimes, I cannot decide what point of view this vid is. Theoretically, it is from Willow's point of view, but then I watch the vid again, and the same clips that I first said were Willow's point of view look like they could just as easily be Tara's point of view. I don't know what to do with that....

The audio also gave me fits; in what I thought would be my final version, the audio cut out at about 3 minutes for no explainable reason. I hurriedly threw it into WMM and created a bigger mess with a doubling up of the audio, an error I didn't catch until 3:30 today. I fixed it correctly this time, and gave it a listen before uploading it again.

Fanfic: 100Songs - Prompt 3: Whatever Happened to Heroes - BTVS: Willow/Tara

Title: Whatever Happened to Willow
Fandom: BTVS
Characters: Willow/Tara
Prompt: 3. Whatever Happened to the Heroes?
Word Count: 500
Rating: G
Warnings/Spoilers: Season 6 spoilers
Summary: Tara-y introspective look at Willow's descent into dark magic.

Tara hated this.

She hated having to watch as Willow fell apart, as she let herself succumb to the dark magic. This wasn’t the Willow she knew, the Willow she had fallen in love with. That Willow had been stronger than that, had known better.

She had thought that after their fight, the first one, when her feelings on Willow’s magic abuse had been voiced, Willow would have changed to keep herself from falling further. And after Glory had been defeated, she had changed, a little. She’d shown so much strength, and Tara had been hopeful, because while the summer after Glory was defeated had been hard on everyone with Buffy gone, Willow had soldiered through, and hadn’t cast a single spell. Granted, she spent most of her time making sure the Buffy-bot was in working order, so that the baddies wouldn’t realize the Slayer was dead. An undefended Hellmouth was not a happy Hellmouth.

But, even with the obvious advantage of being completely distracted, Tara had been so proud of her. Unfortunately, she let that pride in Willow blind her from what was actually happening. She was completely blindsided when Willow suggested they resurrect Buffy, and yet she’d become complicit in the act, even though she should have known that Willow was just setting herself up for a fall.

And the fall came, taking everyone in its path down with it. Tara had got out early, away from Willow and her self-destruction, but she’d still had to watch from the sidelines, helpless as Willow hurt everyone she cared about. There was the physical pain, like that of Dawn’s broken arm, but there was the mental anguish too. No one wanted to watch their friend spiral deeper into the darkness that had enveloped her. Though Tara had been the only one with the nerve to confront her about it, everyone was being affected by Willow’s magic abuse.

Some days, Tara wondered if she was being too hard on Willow. After all, both of them were only human, and it wasn’t like Tara had never been guilty of using magic for unnecessary things. Not every spell had to save humanity.

Some days, she worried she might have pushed Willow toward the edge by fighting with her about the petty spells she’d done. If she hadn’t made such a big deal about the little things, they never would have grown into this mountain of a problem.

Some days, she wished she could turn back the hands of time, and return to the days when she and Willow were still in love, when there was no problem they couldn’t fix by just talking to each other. She missed that time.

Some days, though, she knew she was right. She knew she had done the only thing she could have done in her situation, that she should just accept what had happened and move on because no matter what a horrible time Willow was having trying to come clean, it was for the best.

Fanfic: 100songs - Prompt 2: I Hope You Dance by LeAnn Womack - BTVS: Willow/Tara

Title: The Letter
Fandom: BTVS
Characters: Willow/Tara
Prompt: 2. I Hope You Dance
Word Count: 500
Rating: G
Warnings/Spoilers: Season 6 spoilers
Summary: Tara sends Willow a letter after the break-up.

“Will, you have mail,” Buffy called upstairs to the redhead, before setting the letter down on the table by the door. Instead of waiting for the other woman to come downstairs to retrieve it, she just left it in the spot they had long since designated as “Willow’s Mail Spot,” and went into the kitchen, looking through the rest of the mail as she went.

Willow came rushing down the stairs only a few moments later, skidding to a halt in front of the table. However, she was disappointed to find that it was just a letter. She was about to turn around and leave it there until later, when she realized that she recognized the handwriting. She picked up the envelope, studying it for a moment. The handwriting was indeed familiar – half cursive, half print, and unmistakably Tara’s.

“What on earth?” Willow muttered, as she opened up the envelope. This wasn’t what she’d been expecting. She’d been expecting a package from an online bookstore. Never mind the fact that Tara had left her a month before and they hadn’t spoken since then, except once, briefly, and that encounter had been awkward. She had the thought that she should just leave the letter unread anyway – she was still hurt that Tara had left, even though she understood the reasoning behind it. However, something made her open it anyway.

In the envelope, there was a letter, that began simply, “Willow - .”

“Willow, I’m sorry I left the way I did. I know you need help and I should be there for you, but I can’t. I just can’t. But, I hope that maybe, someday, after you get the help you need, we can be friends again. I don’t want to lose you Willow. I hope you can understand that, and that you forgive me for leaving you.

And if you can’t, then I hope that you at least realize why things went so bad, and learn from the mistakes we both made. Yes, I know that I made mistakes too. I should have helped you sooner, before things got to the point where I couldn’t handle it anymore. I know that things will never be the same between us again, but I hope that someday we can both be happy again, even though we won’t be with each other. I hope that you’ll find someone else – and that nothing ever comes between the two of you. Most of all, I hope that you know that I still love you.”

Willow had begun to cry as she read the letter, but as she finished, she slowly wiped the tears from her cheeks, and folded it up, putting it back into the envelope. She turned to go back upstairs, to take the letter up there and put it in the box where she kept every letter and card Tara had ever given her. Even though it was bittersweet, it showed that Tara was still thinking of her, and that gave Willow hope.
Icons - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Willow

This batch of icons are centered around Willow, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There are from a larger set that I made for my girlfriend's sister. I pulled out the 10 best.
Once again, my brushes come from various sources.
Fanfic: Fanfic100 - Prompt 9: Months - BTVS: Tara Maclay

Title: Nine Months
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Characters: Tara Maclay
Prompt: 009. Months
Word Count: 270
Rating: G
Author's Notes/Description: A lot can happen in nine months.

It's September, and they're fine. Struggling to keep the world from knowing Buffy's dead, but it's getting harder and harder, especially with Dawn starting school again. The Buffy-bot can only do so much.

It's October, and Willow has resurrected Buffy. Tara's not sure that was the best solution, but she helps anyway, so she's guilty too. Buffy's really out of it, but they suppose that's to be expected. Maybe things will turn out all right after all.

It's November, and Tara's leaving. Things just can't be fixed, but maybe this will wake Willow up and she can at least fix herself.

It's December, and Tara's celebrating Christmas alone. Dawn came by to bring her a present - and to try to get her to talk to Willow. She can't.

It's January, and Tara's started Spring Semester at UCSD. Classes are going well. She still hasn't spoken to Willow.

It's February, and Buffy's birthday. Tara goes to the party against her better judgement (Dawn asks her to). She defends Willow without even thinking about it.

It's March, and Xander and Anya don't get married. Willow and Tara talk at the wedding, joke about the horrible green dresses in hushed tones. They start acting like friends again.

It's April, and Tara's still thinking about willow all the time, but she waits, hesitates, wanting Willow to make the first move. She does.

It's May, and Tara's dying. The past nine months suddenly mean nothing and everything all at once. Nine months they could have cherished, but instead threw away. Nine months they wasted fighting, when tragedy was lurking around the corner.

Nine months.

Fanfic: Fanfic100 - Prompt 8: Weeks - BTVS: Tara Maclay

Title: Weekends
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Characters: Tara Maclay
Prompt: 008. Weeks
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Author's Notes/Description: Post The Body and Pre Tough Love

Weekends at the Summers' household were fun. They'd wake up late; Tara would make pancakes. Dawn would stumble downstairs soon after, awoken by the smell of pancakes and maple syrup. They'd all sit around at the kitchen table, laughing and catching up on the week, and eventually Buffy would join them, pouring herself a cup of coffee as she recounted her night, usually spent in the graveyard. These were the best times, when they could pretend Joyce wasn't dead, and Glory wasn't out there trying to end the world. At those moments, they were just one strange, but happy family.

Fanfic: Fanfic100 - Prompt 7: Days - BTVS: Tara Maclay

Title: ShyWitch1016's Live Journal
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Characters: Tara Maclay
Prompt: 007. Days
Word Count: 967
Rating: G
Author's Notes/Description: This is a silly idea I had while in class the other day, and realized it fit well with this prompt.

Welcome to Tara's Livejournal

April 30, 2002

Willow and I had coffee together today. It was her idea, and I could keep myself from going along with it. We talked for a long time, and I discovered one thing: we still love each other. I just don't know what to do. She’s done a lot of things I still don’t know if I can forgive. You can’t solve everything over a cup of coffee… but I do wish you could.

March 06, 2002

Xander and Anya were supposed to get married yesterday, but Xander left her at the altar, and a big fight started between the families, despite Buffy's best efforts to keep everything under control. Willow and I did get to spend some time together though, in a relatively neutral setting, which was refreshing.

February 14, 2002

I went to Buffy's birthday party. Willow stood her ground when Anya tried to get her to do a spell. I was really proud of her, until she showed me her stash. But, she let me take it off her hands, so I can't really stay mad. I really hope that someday, we can start over.. but I can't see that happening right now. As it is, I'm spending Valentine's Day alone, not that I haven't done that before. It's just.. a little more depressing now, after being with someone.

November 21, 2001

Willow and Buffy were out all night, so I stayed to keep Dawn company. That was a bad idea. I ended up staying all night, and in the morning, when Willow finally came in, I met Amy, who told me about all of Willow's magical escapades. She's going to hurt someone someday. I can't be around her when she's like this...

November 14, 2001

Willow and I are breaking up. I don't want to leave her, but I can't handle her magic abuse. She did two spells on me, one of which backfired really bad. I'm hoping my leaving will shake her up, wake her up, and she'll get some help. I just don't think that I'll ever be able to love her the way I used to.

October 07, 2001

Willow wants to resurrect Buffy. She thinks that if she doesn’t, Dawn will get taken away, and no one needs or wants that. I think it's a bad idea, because it screws up the balance of the world, but if she does it, I'll be there for her.

ETA: I think we might have made a big mistake, and Giles agrees. He's furious at Willow. Buffy’s really out of it, and I don’t think it’s just from the spell.

June 01, 2001

Buffy sacrificed herself to save the world. Everyone's a mess. I'm really worried about Willow, she hasn't stopped crying for a week. She keeps babbling about how there has to be something she could have done, still could do to fix this. I keep trying to calm her down, because I don’t want her to try anything dangerous.

February 27, 2001

Joyce died today. I feel bad for Buffy and Dawn, but they've got lots of friends to help them through it. Buffy's worried about taking care of Dawn, though. I told her everyone would help out, but I'm not sure how much comfort that was. Everyone’s being really helpful though, even Anya , who doesn’t understand things very well. I guess hurt is universal.

October 16, 2000
Sorry I haven't written in a long time. I've been really busy with Willow, and helping Buffy, and school. But, guess what? It's my birthday! Happy birthday to me! I've got to go now, though, we've got to go help Buffy move back into her house from the dorm.

ETA: Daddy, Beth and Donnie came to Sunnydale. I knew it was a matter of time before they found me, but why did it have to be my birthday? They wanted me to pack up and go home with them, but I finally stood up to them. Willow was so proud of me.

May 02, 2000

Willow invited me to a Scoobies meeting, which was okay, and kind of boring, until Oz showed up. I think he and Willow are getting back together. I guess I'm happy for her, even though it is a little disappointing for me. We’ll still be friends though, I know.

ETA: He attacked me! (He's a werewolf!) I ran to tell Willow and she ran off to find him.
ETA2: Willow told Oz she didn't want to date him again. She really loves me… I have no idea why, though.

February 29, 2000

Today, I finally met Willow's friend Buffy. Well, first I met Faith, who had switched bodies with Buffy. But after we switched them back, I talked to the real Buffy. She seems pretty nice. She seemed like an airhead at first, but after I talked to her for a while, I realized that’s really just an act. She’s actually a very strong and intelligent woman. I don’t know why she acts so ditzy.

December 14, 1999

Today, I went to a meeting of the coven on campus. The girls in the group didn't know a thing about magic. Well, except one. Her name is Willow, and she's very powerful. We're going to get together to do more spells. I’m glad that I’ve finally found someone I can talk to on campus. It’s been so lonely here the past few weeks.

August 24, 1999

Well, I finally gave in to this craze that’s hitting campus. I don’t really see what the fuss is about, and I don’t think I’ll ever have anything interesting enough to write in it, let alone anything worth reading. Oh well, maybe it’ll fill up my time. I’m having a hard time making friends here, but that’s nothing new.

Fanfic: Fanfic100 - Prompt 6: Hours - BTVS: Willow/Tara

Title: Talking Over Coffee
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Characters: Tara Maclay
Prompt: 006. Hours
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Author's Notes/Description: Tara reflects on the chat she has with Willow over coffee in Entropy.

We talked for hours at that little coffee shop on campus, and it was just the same as any other day. Nothing had changed, even though everything has seemed to during the past few weeks. We caught up on each other's lives, what we'd missed, while we pretended to not care about each other. At first, our conversation was stilted, as we tried to avoid taboo subjects, but slowly, it began to flow normally as we re-adjusted to each other. By the time Anya arrived, trying to make us wish harm on Xander, the atmosphere was as warm and friendly as it had ever been in our first days together. That familiarity gave me hope, a hope that I thought had been lost when Willow crossed the line with her spells.

As we talked, as that hope grew, I could feel my defenses breaking down. There was something salvagable here, if we just put the effort in. We'd taken the first step, and it made me want to run - straight into her arms.

I try to avoid him. He’s not a very nice man,” the old woman said to the nice police officer sitting in the overstuffed chair in her living room. His partner, a woman in her thirties, wanders around the room, looking at pictures as her partner questions the occupant of the apartment across the hall from Drs. Gregory House and James Wilson.

“Never, ma’m? Are you sure? After all, you two are neighbors. Surely your paths must cross every once and a while,” the officer asked, trying to prompt more information out of the woman.

“No, not really. Occasionally I will be outside when he comes home from work, but even when I smile and nod at him, he doesn’t say anything to me. He’s always been a grumpy man, but ever since he hurt his leg, he’s been downright rude to me.”

The officer sighed, and decided to change tactics. “What about his roommate, Dr. Wilson? Do you ever see him, talk to him?”

“Oh yes! He’s such a very nice man, and it’s been a delight to have him in the building. He often helps me with my groceries – if he’s around when I come home with my shopping, that is – and he’s generally very friendly. I see him out my window sometimes, when he’s coming home, if he’s had to park up the street – parking in front of this building can be horrid, that’s why I don’t drive – and if I happen to see him, I always make a point to wave, or go to my door and peek out to say hi, if I’m not too busy.”

“So, his schedule is pretty consistent, then?”

“Yes, at least, compared to House’s. He’s usually back at the apartment by about 6:30, unless he’s working late on a case, or that darn House won’t let him in their apartment! I once saw Jimmy sit outside the apartment for hours waiting for that man to let him in … I offered to let him come into my apartment to wait, but he politely refused,” she said, as she shook her head, as if she couldn’t understand why anyone would refuse her company.

“Why does he put up with Dr. House, then, do you think?” the female officer asked, genuinely curious. The other officer who had been asking the questions gave her a dirty look for interrupting his line of questioning, but the old lady either didn’t notice or didn’t care, because she answered anyway.

“Oh dearie, didn’t anyone tell you they’re sleeping together?” she said bluntly, shocking both of the police officers.

“Er, ma’am, not that it’s any of my business, but, how do you know that?” the female officer asked, irritating her partner further.

“Why else would Jimmy put up with Dr. House?” the woman answered simply, before adding, “Besides, sometimes I hear … strange noises coming from their apartment late at night.”

The male officer cleared his throat. “Moving right along . Did you see anything suspicious on the night of the 24th, anything that might help us with our investigation?’

“Oh, no. I was out of town visiting my sister. I just got in yesterday, in fact.”

The officer let out an exasperated sigh, realizing his entire point was moot. He glanced over at his partner and then stood up. “Well, thank you for your time, Ma’am.”

The old lady stood up when the officers started toward her front door, following them as she remarked, “I never did ask you why there was a need for all these questions, sonny. After all, those boys over there surely didn’t rob their own place.”

“Oh, it’s just a routine part of the investigation, ma’am. Whenever there’s been a robbery, we try to establish if the victims had a routine the thieves could track … Though, that doesn’t seem to be the case here, from what you’ve told us about House, so we’re probably looking at a one time event; some shmuck just got lucky that the two of them weren’t home.”

“Thank you for your time, Ma’am,” the female officer added to her partner’s statement. The old woman just nodded, and smiled as the two of them left her apartment. She glanced over at the closed door of Apartment 221B, and shook her head, before closing her door again.

Fanfic: 100songs - Prompt 1: Waiting (Save Your Life) by Omnisoul - BTVS: Willow/Tara

Title: I Can’t Save You
Fandom: Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Characters: Willow/Tara
Prompt: 1. Waiting (Save Your Life)
Word Count: 522
Rating: G
Warnings/Spoilers: Season 6 spoilers up to 6x07, just to be safe.
Summary: Willow and Tara fight about magic.

“Willow, you are using too much magic!” Tara shouted across the room. It was the same old argument between the two of them, and Tara was getting tired of fighting, but she couldn’t give up.

Somewhere deep inside, Tara knew that Willow was strong enough to beat this, if she’d just admit she had a problem. Unfortunately, Tara didn’t know what it would take to make her realize she needed help. She didn’t want to leave, and nothing short of Willow telling her to would make her leave, and yet … Sometimes Tara thought that would be the best way, the only way. She just wished she could save Willow without it having to come to that.

“Tara, stop being such a worrywart. I’m not using any more magic than I used to – I’m still the same person I always was.” Willow continued concocting the spell she was working on, the one that had started this particular fight. It was a simple potion, designed to help Buffy sleep – the slayer had been having nightmares ever since she was resurrected – and Willow was sure it would help, if Tara would just leave her alone for once.

“I’m not being a worrywart! I’m being sensible! You always use magic to solve problems, when there are perfectly mundane solutions available!” Tara responded, aggravated beyond belief. She’d been trying to convince Willow for the past hour to go out and get Buffy an over-the-counter sleep aid, instead of trying this spell, that had never been tested.

“Why don’t you go get one of those … solutions, then, Tara? While I go give Buffy something that works,” Willow said, as she picked up the vial of greenish liquid that ha resulted from her potion-making attempt. Tara watched, flabbergasted, as Willow walked right past her and out into the hallway to go to Buffy’s room.

“Willow! Wait!” she called after the other woman as she followed her, but it was too late. Buffy was already accepting the drink from her. It had changed into a soft brown color, the color of hot chocolate, and from the way Buffy was guzzling it down, it apparently tasted just as good.

Within a few minutes, Buffy was sound asleep, and Willow returned to the room with a smug, self-satisfied smile on her face. “I told you it would work.”

Tara just turned away from her girlfriend, going to the window and staring out it onto the backyard as Willow began to get ready for bed. Willow moved slowly, first changing into pajamas, and then brushing her hair, doing a million little things that had become her before bed ritual. Finally though, she lay down in bed, and motioned for Tara to join her, but Tara did not join her then, instead waiting until the other woman was fast asleep before she even turned back toward the room.

“I can’t save you, can I, Willow?” Tara murmured to the empty air. Willow didn’t stir, and so Tara turned toward the dresser, opening one of the drawers. It was then she began to pack, not knowing that the worst was yet to come.
